Nantes/Brest Canal  Lovely walks, excellent long cycle rides without any hills!  Accessible to small boats in St Martin sur Oust.

 

Rochefort-en-Terre  Voted the most beautiful village in France 2016.  Beautiful arts, jewellery and crafts shops, candle shop, basket shop, crystal shop, Chocolate Shop!  Large selection of eateries to cater for all tastes and pockets.

 

La Gacilly  Home of Yves Rocher, free open air photographic exhibition throughout the town in the summer; many handmade original arts and crafts shops, many offering free demonstrations; hire an electrically motorised boat for a trip up the river.

Lovely market town, historic buildings.  Sits alongside the Canal and rich in history.

The Museum of the Resistance.

Interesting port on the river Vilaine, departure point for boat trips, lovely restaurants (one in an old cinema offering evenings of entertainment – another on a boat!)

Iles aux Moines 

A short boat trip from Arradon will take you to this beautiful little island where you can hire bikes to explore the hidden beaches and some ancient stones.  Quaint restaurants, cafes, or take a picnic.  You can extend your boat trip to visit some more remote islands nearby.

 

Parc Branfere:  A lovely zoological park which also has a “parcours” up in the trees [don't forget your soft trainers]

 

Physical Pursuits:

Swimming pools at Questembert, Redon and Peillac [open air]

Golf at Caden

Large wooden boat hire [paddle power] at Ile aux Pies suitable for groups.
